British indie icons Blur have announced through a video on their website (registration required) that they will reunite for a concert in London’s Hyde Park on 7/3/2009. The most exciting part of this news, besides the fact that Blur is back, is that they will be joined onstage by guitarist Graham Coxon, making this concert the first time the full band has performed together in just under a decade. Coxon left the band after a bitter dispute, allegedly involving his own alcohol abuse. Looks like he and singer Damon Albarn have mended fences, and the band has declared that recent rehearsals have been like “putting the A-Team back together.”
Will this lead to a tour and/or new recordings? Time will tell.
