Post-Thanksgiving Filler: WKRP in Cincinnati

Posting will likely be light until after the weekend, as the staff attempts to recover from the semi-comatose states we are in due to indulging in massive gluttony.  To keep things rolling, here’s an interesting tidbit from the AP wire:

CINCINNATI (AP) — WKRP is back on the air in Cincinnati — but this time it’s for real.

A low-power TV station has changed its call letters to WKRP, the same as the fictional radio station in the 1970s hit series “WKRP in Cincinnati.”

And here is that TV show’s most classic comic moment, serendipitously Thanksgiving themed.  Les Nessman reports live from the station’s Thanksgiving Day promotion:

“As God is my witness…”

My Dad and I were obsessed with that show when it was on. “Oh the Humanity!!!”

Every radio station is a less interesting version of WKRP. They all have those archetypical characters. We have our Venus, Herb, and Les (unfortunately no Loni Anderson). I’d like to think that I’m Johnny Fever, but our stoner afternoon guy would take that spot. It kills me to think that. Howard Hesseman was cooler that our afternoon man when on Head of the Class for godssakes! Shit, Hesseman NOW is cooler than this kid and he’s gotta be in his late 60s. Which leaves me with Andy? God that’s depressing.
