When I was a kid, I actually owned a Rock-a-Fire Explosion record, “Do You Love Me” (not the Kiss song) b/w a song about birthdays whose exact title eludes me. So I think I speak with some authority when I say that those are not the Rock-a-Fire Explosion’s real voices. They are lip-syncing, and the whole performance is a fraud.
This is a bigger scandal than that little girl who “sang” at the Olympics. A pox on Milli Vanilli for starting this trend many years back. That such tactics have seduced even the Rock-a-Fire Explosion, up until now one of our most respected and beloved musical acts, reflects quite poorly on the state of our society.
Just a note that the new documentary “Rock-a-Fire Explosion” will be screening at the 15th annual Austin Film Festival with director Brett Whitcomb in attendance! Sunday, October 19, 9:30PM at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum – Spirit Theater. More information at: http://aff.bside.com/2008/films/rockafireexplosion_aff2008
