Violent Femmes “pays” Gnarles Barkley Back with a cover of “Crazy”

In what seems like a new trend of trading song covers (the most epic example being Prince’s cover of the Foo Fighters “Best of You” at the Superbowl half-time show as “payback” for the Foo’s cover of “Darling Nikki”) the 30+ year touring band The Violent Femmes, The Violent Femmes

of whom the author has seen at least 25 times in Orange County alone, cover Gnarl’s Barkley‘s smash hit “Crazy”.

Gnarls Barkley covered The Femmes xylophonic classic “Gone Daddy Gone”, and released it as the second single from their Grammy award winning 2007 debut album St. Elsewhere.

  1. I thought I would hate that Violent Femmes version, but I turned out to kinda like it. The arrangement kept making me wish Chris Isaak would do it, though. Not that Gordon Gano lacks a great voice or anything but, ya know…
